... Read the rest of her post here. It's commendable to draw attention to the fact that there are, indeed, plenty of women out there writing about horror movies. As with men writing about horror movies, the blogs all have different voices, different spins- although it seems to me that this contest doesn't celebrate that fact. Yes, there are links to each entrant's respective blog, but...why not talk about their writing in the interviews? Where are the writing samples? There are the obligatory questions about the genesis of the blogs and the inspiration these women find, but those ...
There she is, Ms. Horror Blogosphere!

... Heidi Martinuzzi of Pretty-Scary who had some choice words for the, as she called it "Annoying and Unnecessary Women's Contest". Heidi goes on: "In a truly nauseating attempt at attention grabbing and women-judging, a blog called The Vault of Horror has started something called the 2009 Ms. Horror Blogosphere Contest, which pits female horror bloggers against one another in a popularity voting exploitationsplosion." The VOH blog lists each entrant with their photo and a short Q&A. ...
Ms. Horror Blogosphere: An Explanation
The Vault of Horror —
Hey folks, B-Sol here with what I guess is an explanation of sorts, and one which I feel is important and necessary. Earlier today, The Vault of Horror's Ms. Horror Blogosphere competition was the subject of a very angry post by Heidi Martinuzzi of Pretty-Scary.net, which is basically the epicenter of the female online horror world. I was taken aback and saddened a bit by this, and thus the need to explain myself. Firstly and most importantly, I wish to humbly offer my sincerest apologies to anyone who has taken offense at the contest or found it to be demeaning toward the contestants. Particularly the actual contestants, but also to readers in general, whether male or ...
Ms. Horror Blogosphere Draws Ire, but Why?
I Love Horror —
Recently on the Twitters a mini debate began to brew concerning the presence of female horror bloggers and journalists. While the details are sketchy, due in no small part to my passing participation and tendency to forget my name at times, the overall consensus was that horror journalism, be it on a reputable news site or a personal blog, is a male-dominated profession. This is not to say that the presence of female writers is non-existent; quite the contrary actually. They just have a tendency to be overlooked or, in the case of proper journalism, ignored.
In what most sane people would consider an effort to shed light upon this often overlooked subset of horror bloggers, Brian Solomon ...
Everyone's a Winner! : The Ms. Horror Blogosphere Controversy
Billy Loves Stu —
I started blogging way back in 2004. At the time, I'd read an article somewhere that strongly suggested to keep yourself anonymous should you choose to keep an electronic journal (isn't that quaint? An electronic journal). There should be very little personal information about the author, no indication of where he or she lives, and, under no circumstances should an actual name be used . Furthermore, the article went to stress, it might also be a good idea not to run a picture of yourself. I took all of this information to heart, and it served me well. My original blog (which is still out there, though I've closed it down for the time being - damn you, ...
My opnionated take on the Ms. Horror Blogosphere controversy...
Fascination With Fear —
... (a site which I happen to actually like) felt it necessary to put up a classic bitch-fest post about how sexist the competition is. Seriously? This from someone who runs a "Scary Studs" contest. I'm sorry, but can you say hypocrite? What was she thinking? ...
